Chain Integrations
Butterfly Protocol enables cross chain naming by delegating control of TLDs to ERC721 Zone contracts that can live on any EVM compatible chain. The token id generation allows for domains to be referenced consistently no matter what chain they live on.
Benefits
With Butterfly domains, your network will be able to create an ecosystem where everyone has their own identity. They can use these as human-readable wallet addresses instead of the long ones that are just slowing down the user adoption of crypto.
Domains can also be used used in all kinds of dApps within the ecosystem achieving seamless integration between the different protocols inside it.
NFT collections can use the NFT Tree features to add even more utility to their domains. Eg: BAYC could create the domain “bayc.xyz” and then mint all the designs as subdomains and a member of the community that bought the #3755 would then become “3755.bayc.xyz”. This is an insanely powerful tool for marketing and engagement for NFT projects while also adding utility as these subdomains have exactly the same functionalities as regular domains. This allows an enhanced NFT experience with a full website attached to the NFT instead of being limited to a single media file.
Any dApps that need a token to function can create their own TLD and use domains as the users or any other functionalities inside the app. A decentralized social media app could use domains as users to run the whole system in a decentralized and secure manner. This is what Cortex App and StackOS have chosen to do to enrich their apps.
Blockchain and also non-blockchain games can use these domains to represent skins that will be traded on any compatible NFT marketplace. With royalties, this can be an extra source of income for the developing team. The best example would be if the CSGO weapons were all converted into NFTs would then be traded on the blockchain
